Remains to be seen

The way you squint your eyes, then open them wide — allowing yourself to see beyond the ordinary and into the imaginary. A vision, like a mirage, suddenly appears before your mind’s eye. You reach out to touch it, but your fingers pass straight through. The image trembles around you for just a moment longer before fading completely. You’re left standing in the dark, uncertain if it will ever return. It doesn’t — yet you’re not sad. You’re grateful to have reached within and pulled it out from the depths of your own psyche.
